Erin Banales
Dr Erin Banales’ research focuses on the investigation of the association between working memory and children’s reading development and the intervention of reading and spelling difficulties in children with poor literacy. She is passionate about evidence-based assessment and treatment of dyslexia while building evidence regarding working memory and telehealth intervention. Her favourite aspect is literacy treatment and seeing the benefits of working closely with children, teachers and families to support children with reading difficulties
Erin completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science and a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology at La Trobe University, Melbourne. In 2014 she completed her PhD, which focused on the aim of profiling the nature of working memory deficits in children with reading difficulties (dyslexia) and to investigate the efficacy of working memory training in this same population.
Erin has been involved in research with children and teenagers since 2008 holding research roles at Melbourne University, Sydney University, Westmead Hospital, and Macquarie University. Erin currently works as the National Manager at the Australian Literacy Clinic where she is responsible for the operations of the clinics and works as a clinician to assess and treat children, adolescents and adults with reading and spelling difficulties.
