Andrea Salins

Dr Andrea Salins is a researcher at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy whose work investigates how to support children’s language and literacy development. Her research focuses on identifying effective supports for oral language, reading, and maths development in typically developing children and children with hearing difficulties, and on understanding how reading and/or maths difficulties interact with children’s emotional health. She is also interested in the cognitive processes underlying reading and how adolescent literacy is shaped by socio-emotional context. Her research is informed by her Masters training in audiology, speech-language pathology, and cognitive science, including completing her PhD on research examining orthographic facilitation of vocabulary learning in children with and without hearing loss.
